The cotton fields
Our journey began on the Fairtrade-certified cotton fields, where the cotton used for our bedding is picked by hand. This helps preserve the quality of the fibres. We saw how farmers grow maize alongside cotton, which supports soil health and biodiversity. Through Fairtrade, they receive a fair price for their work, while investments are also made in the local community.
The weaving mill in Madurai
From the fields, we travelled on to Madurai, where the cotton is turned into fabric. Here, it became clear just how much the weaving process influences the final product. We choose a 300 thread count, a denser weave that contributes to the softness and quality you feel as soon as you get into bed.
From fabric to bedding
The fabric is then made into the finished bedding, including the three-sided zip we developed ourselves to make putting your duvet cover on easier.
