Our journey through India
The cotton fields
Our journey began in the Fairtrade-certified cotton fields, where the cotton for our bedding is picked by hand. This helps preserve the quality of the fibres. Here, we met Devram, a cotton farmer who is part of a Fairtrade cooperative in India. Alongside cotton, farmers like Devram also grow maize. This supports soil health and biodiversity. Through Fairtrade, they receive a fair price for their work, while investments are also made in the local community.
The weaving mill in Madurai
From the fields, we travelled on to Madurai, where the cotton is turned into fabric. Here, we saw just how much the weaving process influences the final product. We choose a 300 thread count, a denser weave that contributes to the softness and quality you can feel as soon as you get into bed.
From fabric to bedding
The fabric is then turned into the finished bedding. One detail we’re particularly proud of is the three-sided zip we developed ourselves. Simply place your duvet inside, zip it up, and making the bed is done in no time.
To be honest, we didn’t expect this journey to leave such a lasting impression on us. Seeing our product come to life step by step, from the cotton field all the way to your bed, is something we won’t forget anytime soon.
